My Hero Academia Season 6

My Hero Academia Season 6 is where the long-running superhero series turns into all-out war. It was made by studio Bones, with Kenji Nagasaki as chief director and Masahiro Mukai as director. The season has 25 episodes and aired in Japan from October 1, 2022, to March 25, 2023, in two parts back to back. It adapts a large section of Kohei Horikoshi's manga, from the end of volume 26 to volume 33. That covers two story arcs: the Paranormal Liberation War and the Dark Hero arc.

For newcomers, here is the world. In My Hero Academia, most people are born with a special power called a Quirk. Heroes are a real job, with rankings, agencies, and fans. Izuku Midoriya, called Deku, is a student at U.A. High School, a training school for future heroes. He carries a power passed down from the great hero All Might. On the other side is Tomura Shigaraki, the young leader of the villains, whose power can turn anything he touches to dust.

The last season ended with the villains joining forces with a large hidden group. Together they formed a huge army that could threaten all of hero society. This season starts about a month later. The winged hero Hawks has been working as a secret spy inside that group. With the information he gathers, the Pro Heroes plan a surprise attack on two fronts at once. One team will storm the villains' base at a mountain villa. Another team will raid a hospital to arrest Dr. Garaki, the scientist who created the Nomu, the monster-like creatures the villains use in battle. Deku and his classmates are pulled into the fight alongside the adults.

Many characters get big moments here. Endeavor, now the top hero, and the rabbit hero Mirko lead much of the action, along with Eraser Head, who is Deku's teacher. On the villain side, Twice, a man who can make copies of people, becomes one of the most important figures. The season shows the war from many places at once, so the story often jumps between different battles.

What makes this season stand out is how heavy it feels. Earlier seasons mixed school life, sports festivals, and training with the fights. Here there is little time to rest, and the cost of the battle is high on both sides. The show starts to ask hard questions. What happens to the people that hero society has failed? Is it enough for heroes to win fights? Later in the season, the mood changes again as Deku has to face what this war has done to him and to the world around him.

This is not a good place to start the series. It builds on five seasons of story, and it pays off many plot lines set up long before. But for fans who have followed Deku from the start, Season 6 is one of the biggest and most intense parts of the whole show.
