Mob Psycho 100 III

Mob Psycho 100 III is the third and final season of the Mob Psycho 100 anime. It aired from October 6 to December 22, 2022, with 12 episodes. Studio Bones made it, with Takahiro Hasui as director and Yuzuru Tachikawa as chief director. The story comes from a manga by ONE, the same creator behind One-Punch Man. Mob Psycho 100 first ran as a web comic on Shogakukan's Ura Sunday site from 2012 to 2017.

The main character is Shigeo Kageyama, a middle school boy everyone calls "Mob." Mob has huge psychic powers. He can move things with his mind and fight evil spirits. But Mob does not want to be special. He holds back his feelings because strong emotions can make his power go out of control. He works part-time for Arataka Reigen, a fast-talking man who calls himself a great spirit medium. In truth, Reigen has no powers at all and is more of a con man. Still, he gives Mob useful advice about life and has become an important person to him.

This season opens with a very normal problem. Mob's school asks him to write down what he wants to do after he graduates. He has no idea. Reigen tells him he could just work full-time at the agency, but Mob is not sure. This simple question about the future slowly grows into one of the main ideas of the season: who is Mob, without his powers, and what does he want for himself?

At the same time, strange things are happening in the city. A giant tree has appeared, and a new religious group has formed to worship it. People call it the Divine Tree. Mob learns that he may be linked to how the tree came to be. Watching from the top of it is Dimple, a small green spirit who used to cause trouble and later became Mob's odd companion. Dimple seems to have a new plan. Along the way, Mob also helps his class with a haunted house for the school festival and gets pulled into fights with rival spirits.

The show mixes many styles. It is often a goofy comedy, but it also has huge, beautifully animated psychic battles. Underneath it all, it is a coming-of-age story about feelings, friendship, and being a good person. Reigen's lies and his real kindness are a big part of its heart. It also gently makes fun of cults, fake psychics, and adults who pretend to have all the answers.

The anime is famous for its animation. Earlier seasons won Crunchyroll Anime Awards for Best Action, Best Fight Scene, and Best Animation. Season 3 was runner-up for Best Anime Series in IGN's awards, and animator Yoshimichi Kameda won Best Animator at the 2023 Tokyo Anime Award Festival for his work. For fans who have followed Mob from the start, this season brings his story of growing up to a close.
