Shouto Todoroki

Shouto Todoroki is the youngest child of the hero Endeavor, who trained him harshly from a young age to inherit both his fire and ice powers, hoping he would one day surpass the hero All Might. That upbringing left Shouto deeply resentful of his father, and for a long time he refuses to use the fire side of his power at all, treating it as something tied only to Endeavor rather than to himself.

Shouto starts out distant and cold toward his classmates, rarely speaking more than necessary, but a conversation with Izuku Midoriya during a school tournament pushes him to reconsider. Izuku argues that using his fire power doesn't mean accepting his father's legacy, and the idea helps Shouto slowly open up, becoming warmer, more sociable, and even willing to joke with his classmates.

His family relationships stay complicated. He finds it hard to forgive Endeavor even as his father tries to make amends, and visits with his mother, Rei, who was hurt during his difficult childhood, remain awkward because of the years they spent apart. Shouto's growth from a closed-off, divided boy into someone willing to accept both halves of his power, and of himself, makes him one of the series' central arcs.
