SPY x FAMILY Cour 2

SPY x FAMILY Part 2 is the second half of the show's first season. Like the first half, it was made by Wit Studio and CloverWorks, working together. Its thirteen episodes aired in Japan on Saturday nights from October 1 to December 24, 2022, only a few months after Part 1 ended. The new opening song, "SOUVENIR," is by the rock band BUMP OF CHICKEN, and the ending song, "Shikisai," is by the singer yama. It is all based on Tatsuya Endo's hit manga, which runs on the Shonen Jump+ app.

If you have not seen Part 1, here is a quick recap. In a world split between two rival countries, Westalis and Ostania, a top Westalis spy called Twilight has formed a fake family. As Loid Forger, he pretends to be a normal father and husband. His wife Yor is secretly a professional killer. His adopted daughter Anya can secretly read minds. None of the adults knows the others' secrets, but Anya knows them all. The whole plan, called Operation Strix, is about getting close to a powerful man named Donovan Desmond through the private school his son attends, Eden Academy.

Part 2 picks up after Anya has started school. Now Loid has two ways forward. Anya can make friends with Desmond's son, Damian, who is a proud boy she does not get along with at all. Or she can become a top student, which means earning eight gold stars the school gives for great deeds. Either path would let Loid meet Desmond face to face. Since Anya has just earned her first star, Loid agrees to reward her with something she has wanted for a long time: a pet dog.

The first story of this part is about that dog. While the family looks for a pet, Loid gets an urgent new job. Some young people in the city are planning a bomb attack, and they are using trained dogs to do it. Anya ends up in the middle of the danger and meets a big, fluffy white dog with a strange gift. He can see short glimpses of what is about to happen. The family names him Bond, and only Anya knows about his power.

After that, the season moves through many smaller stories. Yor's younger brother, Yuri, spends time with the family, and Loid has to keep him from finding out that the marriage is fake. Yor tries hard to learn to cook. A new spy from Loid's agency, code-named Nightfall, shows up, and Loid takes part in an unusual secret tennis contest. Many episodes are split into short, funny pieces about school, work, and home life.

The mix of light comedy and spy action is the same as before, but Part 2 leans a bit more into everyday family life. With Bond added, the Forger home feels fuller and warmer. The show keeps asking the same sweet question: what happens when people who are only pretending to be a family start to care for each other for real? For fans of Part 1, this is a natural and charming next step.
