Rem

Rem is a demon maid who serves the eccentric noble Roswaal L Mathers in the fantasy world of Re:Zero. She is the younger twin of her sister Ram, and for a long time she believed she was the weaker, lesser twin. That belief came from a painful event in their childhood, which also left her carrying deep guilt toward her sister.

When the story's hero, Subaru Natsuki, first arrives at the mansion, Rem distrusts him and sees him as a threat. Her feelings change completely after he risks everything to save her life. From that point on, she becomes one of his most loyal and devoted companions, standing by him through hardship even after he falls in love with another woman, Emilia.

Rem speaks in a formal, polite way, but she can act on impulse when her emotions run high, especially when someone she cares about is threatened. Her bond with her twin sister Ram is one of the most important relationships in the story. Rem looks up to Ram with deep respect, almost like worship, because of the guilt she still carries. Despite her quiet manner, Rem is fiercely protective and brave, willing to fight and sacrifice herself for the people she loves.
