Nene Alkastone

Nene Alkastone serves as the field mechanic and weapons engineer of the Empire's 907th Unit, the same small team led by captain Mismis Klass that Iska joins after his release from prison. She designs and builds much of the unit's specialized anti-magic gear herself, including a grenade that can disrupt an enemy astral mage's abilities within a set range and a tracking ring that can pinpoint a target's position from a distance.

High-spirited and cheerful even under pressure, Nene brings a steady, practical energy to a squad that otherwise leans heavily on raw combat skill. She looks up to Iska almost like an older brother, and that closeness carries over into how protective she is of her whole unit, especially after Mismis is accidentally exposed to a vortex that turns her into an astral mage the Empire would persecute if the truth ever got out.

Nene's engineering skill makes her far more than just support staff. The anti-magic tools she builds give the 907th Unit a real edge against enemies who would otherwise have the advantage, and her bond with teammates like Rin Vispose and Mismis helps hold the unit together even when the fighting around them gets genuinely dangerous.
