Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX

Aliceliese, usually called Alice, is the second princess of the Nebulis Sovereignty, a nation of people born with magic power called astral mana. The neighboring Heavenly Empire fears and hates that power, and its soldiers have nicknamed Alice the 'Ice Calamity Witch' because of how destructive her ice magic can be in battle. On the battlefield she fights with calm, cold focus, but that toughness covers a much softer, more ordinary teenage girl underneath, one who cries at the opera and enjoys talking about art for hours.

Alice is secretly tired of the long war between her nation and the Empire, and she wants to end it, even though her position as a princess makes that difficult to admit openly. Her main rival in battle is Iska, a soldier from the Empire who was once that country's youngest ever Saint Disciple before being imprisoned for showing mercy to an enemy. The two keep meeting on opposing sides of the war, and over time their rivalry grows strangely personal. Alice develops real feelings for him, even treating their battles a little like planning for a wedding, according to her own crewmate's teasing.

At home, Alice is close with her younger sister, Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX, and she fights alongside Iska's own squad, including its captain Mismis Klass, engineer Nene Alkastone, and her own personal maid and bodyguard, Rin Vispose, who has protected her since childhood.
