King

King goes by a plain, forgettable nickname, but his real name is Harlequin, and he is actually the thirteen-hundred-year-old ruler of the fairy race. Among the Seven Deadly Sins he carries the title Sin of Sloth, fitting for a fighter who often disguises his true form as a chubby, lazy-looking little man rather than revealing his real fairy shape.

Long ago, King left his throne and his people behind to search for his missing best friend, Helbram, who had vanished along with King's sister, Elaine. During the search he was badly hurt and rescued by a Giant named Diane, but the injury cost him his memories, so for centuries he forgot who he truly was. When his memories eventually return, King is forced to face the devastating truth that Helbram, driven mad by grief and hatred, caused the destruction of King's own fairy homeland, and King has to fight and kill the friend he once loved like a brother.

Though he looks weak without his signature spear, Chastiefol, King is one of the group's most capable fighters once armed. Throughout the story he quietly stays devoted to Diane, going so far as to erase her memories of their time together in order to protect her from painful truths, before the two eventually reconcile and marry. His bond with his sister Elaine also remains important, tying his personal story closely to Ban's.
