Ban

Ban carries the title Sin of Greed among the Seven Deadly Sins, a band of knights once wrongly accused of plotting to overthrow their kingdom. Though his reputation paints him as a dangerous legendary bandit, he is actually warm-hearted underneath his rough exterior, fiercely loyal to his friends once he decides to trust them.

Ban learned the art of thieving from a mentor named Zhivago, and later found his way to a hidden fountain said to grant eternal life. Its guardian, a fairy named Elaine, fell in love with him and gave him the fountain's power through a kiss, which made him immortal, though she herself died from using her magic. The loss earns him the nickname "Undead Ban," since he can recover from almost any wound. After being falsely imprisoned, he is freed by Meliodas and joins the Seven Deadly Sins as the group's cook, working from their traveling bar, the Boar Hat.

Ban treats Meliodas as his closest friend, even though the two rarely show it openly, and he gets along well with teammates like Merlin and the talking pig Hawk. Later in the story, during a second great war, Ban willingly gives up his immortality so that Elaine can finally be brought back to life, choosing a mortal future together with her and later their son, Lancelot.
