Toushirou Hitsugaya

Toshiro Hitsugaya is the captain of the 10th Division in the Gotei 13, the army of Soul Reapers that guards Soul Society. He is small and looks like a child, but he is a true genius. He became the youngest captain of all thirteen divisions.

He grew up in Junrinan, District 1 of Rukongai, the town area of the spirit world. He lived there with an old woman he thinks of as his grandmother, and with a girl named Momo Hinamori. As kids, the two were close. He was a bit of a brat who loved watermelon and liked to tease Momo. Even though she was older and taller, he always felt he had to keep her safe. Momo, for her part, called him by the cute nickname "Shiro-chan." Soon after she entered the school for Soul Reapers, he followed her there because of his natural talent. She had promised to use his proper name only once he unlocked the first power of his sword, and she kept that promise.

Toshiro is serious, sharp, and mature for his looks. He does not like being treated like a kid. His sword, Hyorinmaru, gives him control of ice and cold. He is fond of watermelon and sweet natto (fermented soybeans), and he cannot stand hot weather or strong sun.
