The Legend of Luo Xiaohei's Preschool Arc starts streaming on Bilibili October 30
MTJJ's Chinese web animation returns with its first new arc since The Gate of All Living Beings in 2021, streaming weekly on Fridays; no international release has been announced.
Five years after its last arc wrapped, The Legend of Luo Xiaohei finally has a date for its next chapter. According to Bilibili's official page for the show, the Preschool Arc debuts on Friday, October 30, and fresh installments will arrive there weekly on Fridays. AniList currently puts the arc at six episodes. For viewers abroad, there is no word yet on distribution beyond China.
This return was first teased last November: Bilibili unveiled it on November 15, 2025, during an online showcase of roughly 40 domestic animated projects, both new and continuing. Back then, the only timing offered was the latter half of 2026.
Luo Xiaohei is the creation of Chinese artist MTJJ, whose real name is Zhang Ping, and who also directs it. It began life as Flash animation published online in March 2011. That original run totaled 28 episodes before a 12-episode follow-up, The Gate of All Living Beings, came out in 2021; the studio HMCH produced the animation for those earlier installments.
The cat spirit has also appeared on the big screen. The Legend of Hei opened in summer 2019, and its sequel, The Legend of Hei 2, took in more than $49 million at Chinese theaters in 2025.
