Haruka Minami

Haruka is the oldest of the three Minami sisters in the comedy series Minami-ke. She is in her second year of high school. For many years she has looked after her younger sisters, Kana and Chiaki. Because she carries so much responsibility, she is the most dependable person in the house.

Haruka is calm and kind, and she usually keeps the home running well. When she is alone, though, she becomes very lazy and likes to relax. Her classmates sometimes misunderstand her because she has so many home duties. She was once given the nickname Banchou, which means gang leader, but it was only a title and not a sign that she was tough.

Chiaki respects her deeply and never dares to be rude to her. Chiaki even uses polite Japanese with her, which is unusual between sisters. Haruka is the steady center that holds the Minami family together.
