About
Minami-ke: Korekara is the fifth anime season of Minami-ke, a long running comedy manga by Koharu Sakuraba. The manga has been published in Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine since March 2004. This new season was announced on July 7, 2024, at an event for the 20th anniversary of the series. According to the information available at the time of writing, it is being made by the studio Liden Films and directed by Jun'ichi Kitamura. It is set to premiere in April 2027. Plans can change, so check an official source for the final date.
The word korekara means roughly "from now on" in Japanese. The title suggests a fresh start for the series after a long break. The previous anime season, Tadaima, came out in 2013, so fans waited more than ten years for new episodes. Earlier parts of the anime were made by the studios Daume, Asread and Feel.
Because the season is not yet out, there is no plot to describe in detail. What we do know comes from the original manga and the earlier anime. The series is a slice of life comedy. It follows three sisters who live together without their parents. Haruka is the kind and responsible oldest sister who runs the house, although she gets lazy when nobody is watching. Kana is the impulsive middle sister who oversleeps and is a poor cook. Chiaki is the youngest. She is sharp tongued, but she deeply respects Haruka. A tomboyish girl named Toma, whom Chiaki treats like a little brother, is also a regular face.
The tone is warm and silly. Most episodes are small stories about daily life, such as meals, school days and friendly arguments. That makes it simple for a new viewer to join. You do not need to know a long plot to enjoy the jokes.
The themes are family, friendship and the comfort of ordinary days. Fans of the older seasons will likely be glad to see the sisters again. New viewers can also try the first season from 2007 to see where it all began.
