There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero's Party, so I Tried Confessing to Her is getting a second season
A second TV season of the demon-falls-for-a-priest romcom was announced on November 7 at StarryCube ANIME FES, with a surprise video message from lead Kohei Amasaki. No date, staff or platform has been named.
Youki's confession is getting a sequel. A second TV season of There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero's Party, so I Tried Confessing to Her is in production, the official anime site announced on Saturday, November 7, after the news was revealed on stage at StarryCube ANIME FES, an event run with Waseda University's anime and voice acting club.
The reveal came with a surprise: Kohei Amasaki, who voices Youki, appeared in a recorded comment video for the audience. An announcement visual accompanied the news, and the anime's X account later shared congratulations from the original author, the manga artist and the character designer, plus messages from five members of the cast. That is the extent of it for now. There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero's Party Season 2 has no release window, staff list or broadcast and streaming details yet, and the production says updates will come through the official website and X.
The premise pairs a fantasy setup with a romantic comedy. Youki is a human who was reincarnated and now serves the demon side as a mid-ranking officer, and he falls for Cecilia, the priest traveling with the hero's party he is supposed to oppose.
Gekkou animated the first season, which premiered in January 2026 and ran for 13 episodes through the Winter season. Crunchyroll simulcast it with subtitles in several languages, covering regions including the US, Canada and the UK, while Netflix carried it in eight Asian territories.
The story began life as a web novel that Suisei started posting on Shousetsuka ni Narou in July 2013. Kairi's manga version has run in Manga Gaugau since January 2021; its 14th volume came out on July 15, and the manga had 750,000 copies in circulation as of July 2025. English readers can find it digitally on NTT Docomo's Manga Mirai service.
