Sisbell is in Imperial hands, and getting her out is the mission that opens the next chapter of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World. The anime's official X account, @kimisen_project, confirmed on October 25 that Season III is in production. The post came with a teaser visual drawn by character designer Kaori Yoshikawa, an introduction to the new story, the staff and cast lineup, and a comment from original author Kei Sazane. Nothing has been said yet about when or where it will air.

Where Season III goes

According to the introduction, Iska, the rest of his N07 unit and Rin slip into Imperial territory to retrieve Sisbell, who has been carried off there. Aliceliese stays behind in the Nebulis Sovereignty, where the founder Nebulis is waking up beneath the royal palace and drags her onto a battlefield of her own. Along the way the two leads run into history hidden for a hundred years, which the announcement presents as the "true destiny" binding them. The teaser visual's tagline reads "The Empire infiltration operation begins!"

Sazane's message celebrated the greenlight but cautioned that, with production still under way, the broadcast is some time off. Looking back, the author described Season II as a turbulent stretch for the Nebulis royal court built around a major clash between Iska and Alice, and said the third season moves on to larger developments and episodes nearer the core of the story.

The team behind it

The staff and cast carry over from Season II. Yuki Inaba directs and also writes the series composition. Yoshikawa adapts Ao Nekonabe's original illustrations and doubles as chief animation director, while studio palette and SILVER LINK. share animation production. The score is again in the hands of Elements Garden's Ryota Tomaru, Seima Iwahashi and Ryutaro Fujinaga.

The returning voices include Iska (Yusuke Kobayashi) and Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX (Sora Amamiya), with Mismis Klass (Nao Shiraki), Rin Vispose (Yumiri Hanamori), Jhin Syulargun (Shunichi Toki), Nene Alkastone (Kaori Ishihara) and Sisbell (Azumi Waki) alongside them.

A bumpy road to a third season

SILVER LINK. adapted the first season alone, a 12-episode run broadcast in fall 2020, from October through December. Season II premiered on July 10, 2024, but in August that year its broadcast from episode 5 onward was postponed indefinitely. It came back on April 10, 2025, restarting from the first episode, and finished its run that June, about 16 months before this announcement.

The source is Sazane's light novel series, illustrated by Nekonabe, which KADOKAWA has issued through Fantasia Bunko since 2017; counting short story collections, it stood at 18 volumes by June 2023. Yen Press handles the English release. The setting is an endless war between a technologically advanced Empire and the Nebulis Sovereignty, ruled by witches, in which the Imperial swordsman Iska and the witch princess Aliceliese are sworn to destroy each other yet keep being pulled together.

For anyone catching up, Crunchyroll has the first two seasons across North America, the British Isles, Australia, New Zealand and close to a hundred more territories, and Hulu also offers them in the US.
