Stark

Stark is the front-line fighter in Frieren's group. He swings a huge axe and shields the others in battle. He grew up in a village of warriors, where his father thought he was weak and favored his older brother, Stolz. When demons struck the village, Stark ran away and survived, and he felt like a coward for it. He was then taken in and trained by the dwarf Eisen, who had been in the hero's group with Frieren long ago.

When Frieren visits Eisen, the old dwarf says he is too old for a new trip, so he recommends Stark instead. Stark is timid and often shakes with fear before a fight. He thinks of himself as a coward. Yet when the moment comes, he is very strong and brave, and he keeps going even after taking heavy blows. His hands shake, but he stands his ground anyway.

He is kind, a bit clumsy, and easily flustered around Fern. The two argue often, like siblings, but they care about each other a great deal. Over time their friendship slowly grows into something warmer, though both are too shy to say so. Stark respects Eisen deeply and remembers what he learned from him, and his loyalty to his companions is never in doubt.
