Frieren

Frieren is an elf mage and the hero of the series. Elves live for a very long time, and she is more than a thousand years old. Long ago she was one of four heroes who spent ten years on a quest to beat the Demon King. Her companions were the hero Himmel, the dwarf warrior Eisen, and the priest Heiter. After they won, the group went their own ways, and Frieren went back to wandering alone.

Fifty years later, she meets her old friends again to watch a meteor shower. Soon after, Himmel dies of old age. At his funeral, Frieren realizes she never really took the time to know him, and this hurts her. So she sets out on a new journey to understand people better. She takes on Fern, a girl raised by Heiter, as her student, and later the warrior Stark joins them.

Frieren can seem cold or distant. She is often a little awkward with people, and a few years feel short to her. But deep down she is kind and cares about her friends. She loves to gather spells of every kind, even silly and useless ones. She learned magic from the great human mage Flamme, who rescued her as a child. Demons fear her, and she is known as 'Frieren the Slayer' because she has defeated so many of them.
