Himmel

Himmel was the hero who led the famous group that defeated the Demon King. For ten years he traveled with the elf mage Frieren, the dwarf warrior Eisen, and the priest Heiter. The story begins after his quest is over. Fifty years later he watches a meteor shower with his old friends one last time, and not long after, he dies of old age. His death is what starts Frieren on her new journey.

Himmel is a bit vain. He loves to call himself handsome and enjoys being admired. But he is also warm, funny, and brave. He is a true friend to his companions, and he always stops to help people in trouble, even when their problems seem small or unimportant to others.

Although he is gone, Himmel appears often in memories. Frieren keeps finding places he visited and people he helped, and each one teaches her something new about him. Many of these moments hint that he loved her, even if he never said it plainly. Almost everything Frieren does on her new trip is shaped by the time she spent with him, and by her wish to understand the man she did not take the time to know.
