Shalltear Bloodfallen

Shalltear Bloodfallen is a vampire who guards the first three floors of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, and among all the Floor Guardians she is considered the single most powerful in raw combat ability, equally dangerous with weapons or magic. Behind that fearsome strength, though, she is surprisingly insecure, often putting herself down and doubting whether she truly measures up to the other guardians.

Shalltear harbors deep feelings for Momonga, the ruler of Nazarick, which puts her in constant quiet competition with fellow guardian Albedo for his attention. Her loyalty is put to the ultimate test when an enemy group known as the Slane Theocracy manages to brainwash her completely, turning her against her own home. Forced to stop the threat she has become, Momonga is the one who ultimately defeats her himself. After she is later revived, Shalltear is tormented by guilt over the violence she caused while under outside control, even though none of it was truly her choice.

Outside of combat, Shalltear shares an unusually close bond with the guardian Aura, a friendship that mirrors the relationship between the two characters' original creators. Despite her flaws and the dark things she has done, both brainwashed and otherwise, Shalltear remains fiercely devoted to Nazarick and to Momonga, and her story is as much about guilt and loyalty as it is about raw power.
