Aoi Hinami

Aoi Hinami is Fumiya Tomozaki's classmate, and at school she looks like the perfect girl: great grades, many friends, and talent in nearly every club she joins. Most students assume this comes naturally to her, but in truth, Aoi reaches that level only through nonstop, exhausting effort that she hides from almost everyone.

Outside of school, Aoi has a secret: she is the second-best player in Japan at a competitive fighting game, using the handle NO NAME. This makes her the online rival of Tomozaki, who plays under the name nanashi. When she finds out who he really is, she is shocked that someone so withdrawn in real life could be so skilled in the game.

Aoi decides that if Tomozaki can master a game through practice, he can master real life the same way, and she takes it upon herself to teach him. She treats people and social situations almost like levels in a game, believing that anyone can improve with the right strategy. While she seems cheerful and easygoing most of the time, she can also be blunt, demanding, and even harsh when pushing Tomozaki or others to grow. As the story goes on, she eventually becomes student council president, and her friendship with Tomozaki deepens into something more complicated than a simple mentor-student bond.
