Kou Mitsuki is good enough at games that other players know him as Crim the Headhunter. Then he agrees to test Destiny Unchain Online, the new game his father built, along with the device it runs on, and a bug leaves him inside it as a vampire girl. That premise is heading to TV: the Destiny Unchain Online anime opened its official website on October 30 with a teaser visual, a teaser PV and a 2027 premiere window.

Ikumi Hasegawa, whose credits include 86 and Bocchi the Rock!, voices Crim. She is the only cast member named so far.

The team

Studio Voil is producing the series under director Koichi Hatsumi, who directed Tokyo Revengers. Seiko Takagi, a scriptwriter on The Promised Neverland, is in charge of series composition, and Masashi Kudo, the character designer of Tower of God, adapts the characters. The music is shared by three composers: Yuki Hayashi, known for My Hero Academia, Yuki Furuhashi of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, and Hayato.

No month or broadcast details have been given yet beyond the 2027 window.

From web novel to anime

The original story is by resn, who started posting it on the Shousetsuka ni Narou site in May 2020 before moving it to Kakuyomu in June 2021. Kodansha has published it as a light novel series under its K Ranobe Books label since November 2022, with illustrations by Yachimoto; there are three volumes so far.

Yachimoto also draws the manga version, which has run on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket since July 2022 and has reached its 13th volume. In English, Kodansha USA simulpublishes that manga on its K MANGA app, where the series carries the subtitle How I Became the Crimson Devil.
