Mikuru Kobayashi

Mikuru Kobayashi has one clear dream: to become a truly great detective. She has crammed her head full of detective knowledge from books and shows, even though she is clumsy enough that putting that knowledge into practice does not always go smoothly.

Mikuru lives in 1999, and her world changes when she meets a strange girl who turns out to have traveled back in time from the year 2027. That girl, Anna Akechi, shares Mikuru's straightforward honesty and her inability to walk away from someone in trouble, and the two quickly team up, each becoming a Pretty Cure in the process, with Mikuru transforming into Cure Mystic.

Together, the pair investigate a string of mysteries tied to other Cures living secret double lives, including the gentle pastry chef Kurea Howa and the elusive thief Luluka Moria. Mikuru's genuine passion for detective work, even when her clumsiness gets in the way, makes her a natural match for Anna's sense of justice, and the two balance each other out: Anna's compassion softens Mikuru's eagerness to chase every clue, while Mikuru's knowledge and drive give focus to Anna's instinct to help. Their partnership across time becomes the emotional core of the story's mysteries.
