Star Detective Precure! The Movie: The Mysterious Garden and the Secret of the Two is a feature film from Toei Animation. It opened in Japanese theaters on September 18, 2026, and runs about 71 minutes. The film is a side story to Star Detective Precure!, the TV series that started on TV Asahi in February 2026. Like every entry in the long Precure franchise, it is a magical girl story. In this genre, ordinary girls gain the power to transform into costumed heroes and fight to protect people. The TV series gives the franchise a new theme: detectives, mysteries, and time travel. Its hero is Anna Akechi, a 14-year-old middle school girl. On her birthday, a fairy named Pochitan carries her from the year 2027 back to 1999. She lands in a place called Makoto Mirai City. There she meets Mikuru Kobayashi, a girl who dreams of becoming a famous detective. After a robbery pulls them together, the two girls become the Star Detective Precure. Anna turns into Cure Answer and trusts her gut feelings. Mikuru turns into Cure Mystique and prefers slow, careful thinking. Together they run a small detective office while Anna looks for a way to get back to her own time. Later in the show they are joined by Kurea Howa, a pastry chef who once was a Precure but lost her memory, and Luluka Moria, who used to work with the villains. Their enemy is a gang called the Phantom Thieves' Guild. The movie gives the team a brand new case. A fairy named Rain comes to the detective office with a request. He looks a little like a Siberian Husky dog. He asks the heroes to protect a girl named Karin. Karin lives in a strange and dreamlike garden, and she is very good at making sweets. Her close friend is Alan, another Husky-like fairy who seems to have mysterious powers. A creature called Damedame is causing trouble. It leaves an "X" mark on things, and anything marked with that X can no longer move. To keep Karin safe, Anna and her friends must work out what is really going on inside the garden, and what secret Karin and Alan share. The film is also a team-up. Precure movies often bring back heroes from earlier shows, and this one does the same. The Cures from the two series just before it, Wonderful Precure! and You and Idol Precure, appear as guests. This lets younger fans see their favorite heroes from past years fighting side by side with the new detective team. The new characters have well-known voice actors. Koki Uchiyama plays Rain, Akari Kito plays Karin, and Nobunaga Shimazaki plays Alan. The main detective team keeps its TV cast, with Hikari Senga as Anna and Kaede Hondo as Mikuru. Behind the camera, the film was directed by Hanako Ueda. The script was written by Yoshimi Narita, who also led the writing on Wonderful Precure!. Emiko Miyamoto, who worked on Witchy Precure!, designed the characters. Erika Fukasawa and Misaki Umase, who score the TV series, also wrote the music for the movie. The movie is made mainly for children, so it mixes bright action with friendship, teamwork, and a light mystery that young viewers can follow. Fans of the TV series will enjoy seeing the detective team solve a case on the big screen, while the guest heroes make it feel like a small celebration of the whole franchise.
