Ganju Shiba

Ganju Shiba is a loud, hot-headed young man in Bleach. He belongs to the Shiba clan, a family that was once one of the great noble houses of the Soul Society, the afterlife world of the series. He is not a Soul Reaper, but he can fight better than most ordinary ones.

Ganju has a big ego and loves to act tough, and he leads a gang of rough types who ride around on huge boars. His own boar, Bonnie, is his pride and joy. For all his bluster, he has a softer side, and his fierce older sister, Kukaku, can easily scare him into line. In battle, he relies on fireworks, speed, and a kind of earth magic that turns walls or the ground into sand without any spoken spell.

His family has suffered a great loss. His older brother, Kaien, died by the hand of the Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki, and after that the Shiba clan lost its noble rank. Because of this, Ganju long held a grudge against every Soul Reaper, and it fades only slowly, even after he learns the truth. Over time, fighting alongside Ichigo Kurosaki, he comes to understand him, and the two build a rough, friendly rivalry.
