Kizuguchi to Houtai

Wound and Bandage, known in Japanese as Kizuguchi to Houtai, is a TV anime planned for January 2027. It is based on a manga by Umihoshi Nanai that began running in August 2024 on Comic Days, a manga reading app from the publisher Kodansha. The fifth book of the manga came out in July 2026, around the time the anime was revealed. The show will air in Japan on ABC and TV Asahi in their late-night anime time slot called Animazing!!!, on Saturday nights.

The anime is being made by J.C. Staff, a long-running studio. Miyuki Ishida is the director, Susumu Yamakawa is writing the scripts, and Natsuki Oyama is designing the characters. The voice cast had not been shared when the anime was first announced.

The story is set in the world of the yakuza, which are organized crime groups in Japan. The main man is Gou Kiritani, the second-in-command of a gang called the Kurotorikai. He gets an unusual job. He must look after Riyo Washizu, the young daughter of the top boss of the Washizugumi, another yakuza family. In plain words, he becomes her guardian and helper.

At first, Kiritani thinks this will be an easy task. Riyo seems calm and well-behaved, the kind of girl who does what she is told. But he soon learns her strange secret. Riyo has a special kind of attraction that the story calls "Yowaraa." She gets excited when she sees a hard, scary, powerful person become soft, weak, and unable to help themselves.

That sets up the comedy. Kiritani is a tough gangster who is supposed to be strong and in control, yet the girl in his care is thrilled by toughness that breaks down. The title, which means "the wound and the bandage," hints at this odd pairing of a person who gets hurt and a person who looks after them. The show is a romantic comedy, built around the bond between this mismatched pair: a gang boss's daughter and her rough guardian.

The manga is a seinen work, meaning it is aimed mainly at adult men, and it has grown-up humor. Its mix of gangster drama and an odd love story should appeal to fans of offbeat romance.
