Kizuguchi to Houtai casts Hisako Kanemoto and Chikahiro Kobayashi, and sets a January 9 premiere for its yakuza romcom

A yakuza heiress who gets a thrill from watching strong people crumble now has a voice. Hisako Kanemoto will play Riyo Washizu in the TV anime of Kizuguchi to Houtai (Wound and Bandage), and Chikahiro Kobayashi is Kiritani, the reluctant young lieutenant put in charge of her. Both leads were named on October 16, alongside a theme visual and a teaser PV built around the word "love." The production says that visual and video are only the first in a set that will roll out once a week for four weeks.

The show also has a firm start. AT-X runs episode 1 at 11 p.m. on January 9, 2027. ABC TV and TV Asahi follow later the same night in their ANiMAZiNG!!! slot, listed as 26:00 on Saturday, which is 2 a.m. on Sunday, January 10, Japan time. ABEMA picks it up for streaming after the network airing.

The setup is a comedy about a very particular taste. Riyo, addressed as "Ojou" by the men of the Washizu family, the gang that runs the whole Kanto region, has what the series calls a "yowaler" streak: she is excited by seeing a powerful person weakened. Kiritani, the family's young second-in-command, is handed the job of minding her and ends up dragged into a relationship he did not ask for. Japanese coverage labels the result a "special-fetish romcom," and AniList files it under Comedy and Romance.

Creator Nanai Umihoshi first published the story as a one-shot in Kodansha's Getsumaga Kichi in February 2024, then moved it to the publisher's Comic Days platform as a serial that August. Kodansha put out the fifth collected volume on July 16 this year.

Behind the camera, Miyuki Ishida directs at J.C.Staff, with Susumu Yamakawa responsible for the scripts and series composition and Natsuki Oyama adapting the character designs. Three more weekly visual-and-video drops are promised between now and the January debut; so far, Riyo and Kiritani are the only two roles with confirmed voices.
