Shiba Inu Rooms, the manga about a 4,800-yen apartment haunted by a shiba spirit, gets a TMS TV anime in summer 2027
Osamu Yamasaki directs the adaptation of Esu Omori's Shonen Jump+ comedy, with Niina Nakabayashi as tenant Koori Momose and Mutsumi Tamura as Muu, the ghost dog who comes with the room.
Brand-new building, IH cooktop, toilet and washroom kept apart, and rent of just 4,800 yen a month. The catch in Room 101 of Maison Shiba is Muu, a shiba inu who never left: a ghost dog tied to the place who comes with the lease. That is the setup of Esu Omori's manga Shibatsuki Bukken, published in English as Shiba Inu Rooms, and Shueisha has announced it will become a TV anime in summer 2027.
The official site opened with a teaser visual and a teaser PV, and named TMS Entertainment as the studio. Osamu Yamasaki directs, and Rio handles the character designs.
Niina Nakabayashi voices Koori Momose, a diligent student who left her family to live alone after switching schools and does not rattle easily. Mutsumi Tamura plays Muu. Koori signs for the room anyway, but she would rather live by herself, so much of the comedy comes from her schemes to send the dog on his way. The site pitches it as a warm comedy full of odd neighbors and plenty of shiba.
In comments on the site, Nakabayashi said she first met the series through its audition and has kept reading it since, while Tamura, a self-described dog lover, said she was won over by how cute the manga is and how good-natured its residents are.
Omori's story started as a one-shot on Shonen Jump+ in July 2023 before regular serialization began in June 2024. The eighth volume came out on August 4, and the ninth is due on November 4, 2026. VIZ Media holds the English license, and Shueisha also carries it on MANGA Plus.
Summer 2027 is the only timing given so far. The broadcast date, channels and the rest of the cast have not been announced.
