Phantom Busters casts Nobuhiko Okamoto and Natsuki Hanae as its ghost-hunting club, with Chika Nagaoka directing at TOHO animation STUDIO
A month after TOHO Animation announced the adaptation of Neoshoco's Jump SQ. manga, the 2027 TV anime revealed a teaser visual, its four leads and its director on October 27.
Here is an awkward way to start a club: the boy who devours spirits is blind to them. That problem sits at the heart of Neoshoco's supernatural coming-of-age series, and the TV adaptation has now chosen the four actors who will voice its members.
Nobuhiko Okamoto takes the role of Mogari Shishikuno, a Kamakura teenager with an appetite for the dead. Natsuki Hanae is Eugene Korekishi, an honor student and committed skeptic who nonetheless helps him set up an exorcist society on campus. Because Mogari needs eyes he doesn't have, they bring in Kaoru Kanzaki, a manga lover with the sight, played by Koki Uchiyama, and Kotaro Tamon, voiced by Ryota Suzuki, who chats with phantoms easily but freezes up around the living.
October 27's reveal via the official website and X account also put names to the production. Chika Nagaoka is directing for TOHO animation STUDIO, and two artists, Takahiro Kishida and Rina Iwamoto, split the job of adapting the characters for animation. The first poster shows the quartet in their uniforms posed by the title against a violet-and-green backdrop. Broadcast is slated for 2027, with the channel and exact day still unannounced.
TOHO Animation broke the news of the adaptation on September 24, accompanied by congratulatory art drawn by Neoshoco. Shueisha has serialized the comic in Jump SQ. since 2023; print and digital sales together now exceed 1.4 million, and VIZ Media handles the English release.
