Mashle: Magic and Muscles becomes a live-action film on March 19, 2027, with Mash's actor to be named November 5
Warner Bros. Japan announced a live-action Mashle movie for Japanese theaters, produced by Kingdom studio CREDEUS and distributed by Toho. A teaser visual shows Mash holding a dumbbell instead of a wand; the anime's third season arrives first, in January 2027.
Mash Burnedead is trading the animation cel for a film set. Warner Bros. Japan announced on November 4 that Hajime Komoto's muscle-over-magic comedy Mashle: Magic and Muscles is getting a live-action feature, and set its release in Japanese cinemas for March 19, 2027.
The first look keeps the joke intact. A super teaser visual shows the film's Mash from behind, dressed in his magic-school robe and gripping a dumbbell where a wand should be. Who plays him stays secret for one more day: the film's official X account, @mashlemovie, says the actor will be revealed on Thursday, November 5. The director and the rest of the cast are still unannounced.
Who is making it
Warner Bros. Pictures and Fuji TV lead the project, and Toho distributes in Japan. Production is by CREDEUS, a live-action studio whose earlier films include the Kingdom series and Kokuho.
The manga and the anime so far
Komoto serialized Mashle in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from January 2020 to July 2023, wrapping it up with an 18th volume that October. Around 12 million copies are in circulation. English readers followed it simultaneously through VIZ Media and Manga Plus.
On screen the story is already well traveled. A-1 Pictures adapted it as a 12-episode TV series in spring 2023, and a second season followed in winter 2024, with Chiaki Kobayashi voicing Mash. Crunchyroll streams both seasons in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and 112 further territories, while Netflix carries them in 45 territories, the US included.
Two Mashle premieres in one winter
The movie is not the only new Mashle on the calendar. The anime's third season, The Tri-Magicathlon Divine Visionary Final Exam Arc, is scheduled to begin in January 2027, two months ahead of the live-action release date.
