In the Clear Moonlit Dusk manga ends with chapter 45 on the day its live-action film opens
Mika Yamamori's Dessert romance published its final chapter on October 23, the same day Toho released the live-action movie starring Shunsuke Michieda and Seira Anzai, nine months after the TV anime premiered.
October 23 was a crowded day for In the Clear Moonlit Dusk (Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki). Kodansha's Dessert magazine put out its December 2026 issue carrying the 45th and final chapter of Mika Yamamori's manga, and Toho opened the live-action film adaptation in theaters across Japan. Dessert's official X account had confirmed the ending the day before.
The series has been running since July 2020. It follows Yoi Takiguchi, a composed girl whom her classmates have dubbed the school "prince" and who has learned not to care. That changes when Kohaku Ichimura, the other student who carries the same nickname, tells her she is beautiful, and his steady pursuit leaves her unexpectedly flustered.
By the numbers
The 11th collected volume came out on September 11, and the manga has 8.2 million copies in circulation. It placed fourth among the female-reader picks of the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2022 guide and 11th in the 2023 edition. Kodansha USA, which picked up the English rights in June 2021, has reached volume 9.
Three screen versions in one year
The TV anime, a 12-episode co-production between East Fish Studio and Atelier Peuplier, premiered on January 11, 2026, and Crunchyroll streamed it with subtitles in several languages and an English dub.
For the live-action movie, Kentaro Takemura directed a script by Yuichi Tokunaga. Shunsuke Michieda is Kohaku opposite Seira Anzai's Yoi; Rintaro Mizusawa appears as Takuto Oji, the third boy in the picture, and Naohito Fujiki as her father. Naniwa Danshi provide the theme, "Moonlit," while Shu Kanematsu wrote the score. TBS Sparkle made the film for Toho over roughly two months of shooting in autumn 2025, with locations in Kobe plus a Saitama campus and shrine, and the cast first presented it to an audience at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya on September 24.
