Eleceed's TV anime settles on an April 2027 premiere and releases an English trailer, with Crunchyroll streaming outside Japan and China
The adaptation of Jeho Son and ZHENA's webtoon, delayed from 2026, now has a spring 2027 slot. DandeLion Animation Studio is producing under director Hiroshi Nishikiori.
After slipping out of 2026, Eleceed finally has a season. The TV anime's official site and X account announced on October 21 that broadcast starts in April 2027, and an English-language trailer posted the same day pitches it as a worldwide premiere that month. The exact start date and Japanese broadcasters are still to come. Outside Japan and China, Crunchyroll will stream it.
The date caps a bumpy schedule. The adaptation was first slated for 2026, then pushed back to early 2027 in June; the new announcement pins that down to spring.
The premise is a boy-and-his-cat story with a twist. High schooler Jiwoo Seo is kind to a fault and has reflexes as quick as a cat's. The stray he takes in turns out to be Kayden, the most powerful of the superhuman Awakened, now trapped in the body of a large cat and on the run. Jeho Son and ZHENA began the webtoon on Naver Webtoon in October 2018, and it had reached 391 chapters by late June 2026.
DandeLion Animation Studio, known for THE FIRST SLAM DUNK, is producing. Hiroshi Nishikiori (A Certain Magical Index III, Honey Lemon Soda) directs, Yousuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia) is in charge of the scripts, and Minami Sakura (Gridman Universe) designs the characters.
The Japanese cast, revealed with the first trailer at Anime Expo in July, is headed by Junya Enoki, who plays the lead under the localized name Yu Kazehaya. Tasuku Hatanaka voices transfer student Jin Tatsuoka, with Setsuji Sato as the scientist Dr. Delein, Hayato Dojima as Sota Yanagi and Shizuka Ito as Amane Yanagi.
