Black Clover is back. The second anime season of this fantasy action series premieres on October 3, 2026. Studio Pierrot is making it again, with a new director, Ayataka Tanemura. The first anime ran for a very long time. It aired from October 2017 to March 2021 and had 170 episodes. Then it stopped, while the story in the manga kept going. A movie, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, came out in June 2023 in Japanese theaters and on Netflix. This new season finally continues the TV story from where it left off. The series is based on the manga by Yuki Tabata. It is set in the Clover Kingdom, a land where almost everyone can use magic. At age 15, each person gets a grimoire, which is a magic book that helps them cast spells. Magic decides a person's place in society. Knights with strong magic are respected, and the strongest of all is the Wizard King, the protector of the whole kingdom. The hero is Asta, an orphan boy from a small village. He has no magic at all, which is almost unheard of. What he does have is huge energy, a very loud voice, and a body he has trained until it is extremely strong. His friend and rival, Yuno, grew up in the same church. Yuno is the opposite of Asta: calm, and full of talent. Yuno gets a rare four-leaf grimoire. Asta gets a strange, dirty five-leaf grimoire that holds swords and anti-magic, a power that cancels other people's magic. Both boys dream of becoming the next Wizard King. Asta joins the Black Bulls, a squad of Magic Knights known for being wild and trouble-making. Their captain is Yami Sukehiro, a tough, relaxed man who tells his team to push past their limits. The Black Bulls feel like a noisy family, and they are one of the best parts of the show. Reports say this season picks up with the Spade Kingdom Raid arc. In this part of the story, Asta and his friends must go all out to rescue Yami, their captain. The Spade Kingdom is a dark, powerful enemy nation. That means large battles, strong new villains, and big moments for many side characters. Some reports expect about 26 episodes in two parts, but the final count may change. Black Clover is known for never-give-up energy, friendship, and a hero who wins by working harder than everyone else. Fans say the new season also looks sharper and more polished than the old weekly show. If you like Naruto or My Hero Academia, it is a good fit.
