Tomura Shigaraki leads the League of Villains in My Hero Academia and later rises to command an even larger army of villains called the Paranormal Liberation Front. Before he took that name, he was a boy called Tenko Shimura whose own Quirk accidentally killed his entire family, and whose father abused him for not fitting in. Left alone and broken, he was found and raised by the shadowy villain All For One, who became both a father figure and, in truth, a master shaping Tomura into a weapon.
For much of the story Tomura acts like an overgrown, angry child, lashing out at anyone who crosses him and hurting even himself when he cannot control his feelings. He has no real plan or goal at first, destroying things simply because the world never gave him anything better to do. A chance meeting with Izuku Midoriya, the boy who ends up his complete opposite in both kindness and purpose, pushes Tomura to finally decide what he actually wants: to tear down the hero society that failed him by destroying its greatest symbol, All Might.
In the end, Tomura discovers that his grandmother was the hero Nana Shimura, meaning he is secretly connected to the very legacy of power he has spent his life trying to destroy. After inheriting All For One's full strength and turning on his own mentor in their final battle, he is finally defeated by Izuku. Dying, he admits defeat and, surprisingly, tells Izuku to go make the world better than it was for him.

My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON is the eighth and last TV season of the anime based on Kohei Horikoshi's superhero manga. It was made by Bones Film, with Kenji Nagasaki as chief director and Naomi Nakayama as director. It ran for 11 episodes in Japan, from October 4 to December 13, 2025. Crunchyroll streamed it outside Asia, with an English dub coming about two weeks after each episode. It adapts chapters 399 to 430 of the manga, from volume 40 to the end of volume 42. In this world, most people are born with a "Quirk," a special power that is different for each person. Some people use their Quirks to become professional heroes, and others use theirs to become villains. The story follows Izuku Midoriya, also called Deku. He was born with no power at all, but he dreamed of being a hero anyway. The great hero All Might saw his brave heart and passed on to him One For All, a power that has been handed from one person to the next for many years. Deku then joined U.A. High School, a school that trains young heroes. This season does not start fresh. It picks up right where Season 7 stopped, in the middle of a war between heroes and villains that spreads across Japan. Deku is now using the full strength of One For All. His main enemy is Tomura Shigaraki, a young man full of hate who carries the will of All For One, the oldest and most evil villain in the series. All For One has made himself young again. Standing against him is All Might, who has lost his own power. He fights wearing a strong armored suit, with only his courage and his tools. The heart of this season is the final fight for the future of hero society. Many characters that fans have followed for years get their last big moments. Katsuki Bakugo, Deku's childhood rival, is one of the most important of them. Their friendship, which began with bullying and slowly grew into respect, is one of the key stories in the whole show. Deku's fight with Shigaraki is also more than punches and powers. Deku wants to understand the person in front of him, not just beat him. The series talks about what it really means to be a hero. Is a hero someone who wins fights, or someone who saves people, even their enemies? The show also looks at how a society can fail people. Many villains became bad because nobody helped them when they were children. The final season brings these ideas together while still giving fans huge, colorful battles. There are many sad and emotional scenes too, as the war tests everyone. Because it is the end of a very long story, this season is best watched after the earlier seven seasons. It is fast, loud, and full of feeling. It is the ending that many fans waited about ten years to see on TV, since the first season aired in 2016. In Japan, the episodes aired on the channels ytv and NTV. A bonus special that adapts chapter 431 of the manga premiered later, on May 2, 2026.
