Hiroshi Tsuchida, whose voice turned up everywhere from Attack on Titan to the Japanese release of Cars, has passed away at 54. Heart failure took him on October 11, 2026, according to 81 Produce, the agency that represented him. The agency shared the news on October 20, adding that the family had already held a private funeral attended only by relatives.

A Tokyo native born in February 1972, Tsuchida played Saizo, the Ninja Blue of the Super Sentai series Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, in live action. In Japanese, he was also Lightning McQueen across Disney and Pixar's Cars movies.

Anime audiences heard him as Grisha Yeager, Eren's father, in Attack on Titan. Other parts included Daikichi Kawachi (Bunny Drop), Ganesha (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?), Koichiro Iketani (Initial D) and Coach Okita (Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Road to the Top). His credits extend to Naruto and One Piece, and to HANE2 in Ultraman Decker.

His dubbing work for Western film and television included Rick in The Walking Dead, as well as roles in the Fantastic Beasts and Transformers series and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Colleagues shared tributes online after the news broke. Oricon reported that Yuki Kaji, who voices Eren in Attack on Titan, was among them.
