Mob Psycho 100 II is the second season of the anime based on the webcomic by ONE, the same artist who created One-Punch Man. The comic first ran online on Shogakukan's Ura Sunday site from 2012 to 2017. Studio Bones made the anime, and Yuzuru Tachikawa directed it. This season aired from January to April 2019 and has 13 episodes. Its hand-drawn, wobbly animation style is famous among anime fans. The hero is Shigeo Kageyama, a quiet middle school boy that everyone calls Mob. The name means someone who blends into the background. Mob is shy, not very good at school, and not good at sports. But he has a huge amount of psychic power. He can bend spoons, lift cars, and drive away evil spirits with his mind. Still, he tries hard not to use it. He learned when he was little that power used in anger can hurt people he loves. Mob works part-time for Arataka Reigen, a fast-talking man who says he is a great spirit medium. In truth, Reigen has no special powers at all. He is mostly a con man who uses Mob to do the real ghost-busting. Yet Reigen also gives Mob some of the best advice in his life, and their odd teacher-and-student bond is at the center of the show. Other key people are back too. There is Ritsu, Mob's younger brother, who has his own complicated relationship with power. There is Dimple, a small green spirit who keeps trying to use Mob for his own goals. And there is Teruki Hanazawa, a former rival who has become a friend. A running idea in the series is a counter that climbs on the screen as Mob's emotions build up. When it hits 100, something big happens. This season pushes that idea further. Mob faces stronger spirits, other psychics, and a group of espers called Claw that wants to use powers to rule others. But many of the most important moments are not fights. Mob tries to speak honestly to people, including his childhood crush. He keeps training with the school's Body Improvement Club to get stronger in a normal way. He also starts to see the people he trusts in a clearer, more grown-up light. The show mixes several moods. It can be very silly, with fast jokes and strange situations. It can be scary, with creepy spirits and wild monster designs. And it can be warm and moving, especially when it talks about kindness and growing up. A core message is that being strong does not make you a better person. What matters is how you treat others and whether you are brave enough to be yourself. Critics loved this season. One reviewer called it about as close to a perfect season of TV as they could imagine. It won Best Animation and Best Opening Sequence at the 4th Crunchyroll Anime Awards. It remains one of the best-rated action comedies on AniList.
