Pairin

Pairin is a top courtesan at the Verdigris House, the famous brothel where Maomao grew up in The Apothecary Diaries. She is the eldest of the house's star trio, known together as the Three Princesses, and she is one of its most sought-after entertainers.

Pairin is bold, passionate, and fiery. She is a gifted dancer, and she makes no secret of her strong appetite for romance, sometimes chasing after other courtesans and staff with great energy. Her lively, shameless manner often provides comic moments in the series.

Behind the flirting, though, she has a deep, caring side. When Maomao was a baby, Pairin served as her wet nurse, feeding and caring for her. Because of this, she treats Maomao almost like her own child, and Maomao, in her own dry way, cares for her like a mother in return. Pairin later becomes romantically involved with Lihaku, a military officer who visits the house.
