Kana Arima was once a star. As a young girl, she earned fame as a child actress who could cry on command, but as she grew older, the offers dried up and her career stalled. That early taste of fame and its sudden loss shaped how she sees herself: outwardly confident, but privately harsh on her own talent.
When Ruby Hoshino forms the idol group B-Komachi, Kana joins alongside MEM-cho and quickly becomes its most skilled performer, sometimes holding back so she does not overshadow her bandmates. She is stubborn and puts up a confident front, yet she carries real empathy for others and takes blame onto herself whenever something goes wrong, since she has more show-business experience than her younger groupmates.
Kana later leaves B-Komachi to chase a comeback as an actress. She develops quiet feelings for Aquamarine Hoshino after they work together, though she never gets the chance to tell him before his death. Her bond with fellow actress Akane Kurokawa shifts over time from admiration to rivalry, after Akane's own feelings for Aqua complicate their friendship. Despite the pain in her past, Kana keeps pushing forward, holding onto the hope that someone will someday value her simply for who she has become.

Oshi no Ko Season 3 is the third season of the anime based on the manga by writer Aka Akasaka and artist Mengo Yokoyari. The manga ran in Weekly Young Jump from 2020 to 2024 and ended after 16 books. Doga Kobo made the anime. This season has 11 episodes and aired in Japan from January 14 to March 25, 2026, on Wednesday nights. The last episode is about twice as long as a normal one, close to an hour. After that final episode, the staff announced a fourth season, which will be the last. The title roughly means "my favorite star." In Japan, an "oshi" is the idol or performer you support most as a fan. The whole series is about the bright and dark sides of the Japanese entertainment world: idols, actors, TV shows, and the people who make money from them. It starts with a strange idea. A doctor named Goro and one of his young patients, Sarina, are both reborn as twins. Their new mother is Ai Hoshino, a famous pop idol. The boy is Aquamarine, called Aqua, and the girl is Ruby. After their mother is killed when they are small, the twins grow up wanting answers, and both step into show business themselves. Season 3 picks up after a jump in time. Aqua seems to have set aside his old plan for revenge and is now busy with his own career. He works in many kinds of entertainment and appears regularly on a TV variety show, a kind of program with games, talk, and comedy. Still, the memory of his mother has not left him. He also pulls away from Kana Arima, a former child actor who cares about him. Kana is now part of the idol group B-Komachi, and even though the group is finally doing well, she finds it hard to feel happy about it. Ruby's story takes a sharp turn this season. B-Komachi is getting its big chance, largely thanks to the hard work of their teammate MEM-cho. But during the filming of a music video, Ruby learns something that shakes her. She decides to find out who is behind the deaths of the people she loved most. With help from someone else who was deeply hurt by Ai's death, Ruby starts to climb higher in the industry. She is willing to bend the truth and hide her real self to get closer to the answers. Akane Kurokawa, a gifted actress who has her own close link to Aqua, also keeps rising in her career. This season leans more into mystery and drama than comedy. It shows how fame can be built on clever images and careful lies, and how hard it is for young performers to stay honest with themselves. The twins' relationship becomes more tense as each one chooses a different way to deal with the past. Oshi no Ko became a major hit when its first season aired in 2023, helped by the famous opening song "Idol" by the music duo YOASOBI. Season 3 is a direct follow-up to the first two seasons, so it is best watched after them.
