About
Soshiki no Shukuteki to Kekkon Shitara Mecha Amai is known in English as My Sweet Marriage to My Ex-Nemesis. A nemesis is a person's greatest enemy. The story started as a light novel, a type of short Japanese novel with anime-style pictures. It is written by Toshimichi Uzou and illustrated by Kei Hayashi, and the first book came out in October 2023 under Dengeki Bunko, a well-known light novel label from ASCII Media Works. A manga version drawn by Shiime began in the magazine Dengeki Maoh in November 2024, and One Peace Books plans to print the manga in English.
The anime was announced on October 3, 2026, during an online event called the Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival Online 2026. The studio EMT Squared is making it, working together with Ankichi Kobo. Atsushi Nigorikawa is the director, and Keiichirou Ouchi is in charge of the series composition, which means planning how the story is split into episodes.
The story is about a young married couple with a very unusual past. Roushi used to fight for one secret group of people with special powers, and he was known by the code name "Feather Hunter." Ritsuka, whose family name was Nagira before the wedding, fought for an opposing group under the scary name "White Demon." For a long time, the two of them were rivals and fought each other again and again. Then both of their groups broke up. With no more reason to battle, the two former enemies got to know each other as people, fell in love, and got married. Now they share the family name Saigawa.
The show is mostly about what comes after the fighting. Roushi now has an ordinary office job as a salaryman, a Japanese word for a company worker. Ritsuka is strict and serious on the outside, but she truly loves and cares for her husband. Most of the comedy comes from the gap between their dangerous past and their simple, cozy home life. Two people who once used powers in deadly fights now have to deal with cooking, chores, and small fights about nothing.
There is also a romantic side that drives a lot of the jokes. Even though they are married, Roushi and Ritsuka have not yet taken the next physical step in their relationship, and Roushi feels shy and a little worried about it. Their slow, awkward steps toward being closer give the story much of its sweetness and its humor.
The series is a romantic comedy with slice-of-life and supernatural parts. Slice of life means a story about everyday moments. It uses the popular "enemies to lovers" idea, where two rivals end up falling in love, but it starts at the point where most such stories would end: the wedding. Instead of asking whether they will get together, it asks how two former fighters learn to live as a happy couple. Viewers who enjoy sweet, funny married-life stories with a touch of action should keep an eye on this one.
