About
One Punch Man 3 is the third TV season of a story that started in a very simple way. In 2009, an artist who calls himself ONE began posting a free comic on the internet. A few years later, the artist Yusuke Murata started drawing a new and much more detailed version of it for Shueisha's website Tonari no Young Jump. That remake became a huge hit, and the first anime season, made by the studio Madhouse, aired in 2015. A second season by J.C.Staff followed in 2019. This third season is also made by J.C.Staff, with Shinpei Nagai as director. It aired in Japan from October 12 to December 28, 2025.
The joke at the heart of the show has not changed. Saitama is a bald man in a plain yellow suit and a cape. He trained so hard that no enemy can stand up to him. Every fight ends after one hit. For most heroes this would be a dream. For Saitama it is a problem, because nothing excites him anymore. He worries more about grocery sales and paying his bills than about giant monsters. The series uses this idea to poke fun at normal superhero stories, where the hero always struggles and grows. Saitama is already at the top, and he is bored there.
The world of the show is full of heroes, and most of them work for the Hero Association. This large group gives every hero a class and a number, a bit like a sports ranking. S-class is the highest level, and the heroes in it are the strongest and most famous. Saitama is in the Association too, but people rarely believe how strong he is, so he stays far down the list. His student is Genos, a young cyborg, which means a person whose body is mostly machine. Genos lost his hometown to a rogue machine and wants revenge. He follows Saitama everywhere and takes careful notes, hoping to learn his teacher's secret.
Season 3 picks up right after the end of season 2, in the middle of the Monster Association story. The Monster Association is a hidden group of monsters that lives deep under the ground. Some of its members were once ordinary people who were changed into monsters. The group has taken the young son of an important Hero Association leader, and the Association decides to send its top S-class heroes into the monsters' underground base to bring him back. This sets up a huge battle between the best heroes and the most dangerous monsters in the story so far.
At the same time, the season spends a lot of time with Garou. Garou is a young martial artist who has always cheered for the monsters instead of the heroes. He calls himself a hero hunter, and he wants to prove that the heroes are not as good as people think. After a hard fight, the Monster Association carried him away to its base, and now he wakes up there. His story asks real questions about who is a hero and who is a villain, and why people pick one side.
The tone mixes loud action with dry comedy and some serious ideas. The show likes to point out how fake and selfish the hero business can be, and how often people forget to thank those who protect them. It also shows how lonely it is to have too much power. Fans of the manga waited many years for this part of the story. However, many critics were unhappy with how this season looked. Several reviews said the art, animation and direction were weaker than in earlier seasons, and Anime News Network even named it the worst anime of 2025. The story itself, though, is one of the biggest parts of the whole series.
