About
Diamond is Unbreakable is the third JoJo TV season from David Production, and the fourth part of Hirohiko Araki's manga. It aired in Japan from April to December 2016 and has 39 episodes. After a long world trip in the last story, this one stays in just one place: Morioh, a quiet made-up town in Japan. Araki has said he wanted to show a "closed city" and the feeling of everyday life. That choice gives this season a very different mood from the others.
The year is 1999. Jotaro Kujo, now an adult, comes to Morioh with some surprising news. His grandfather, Joseph Joestar, has a son that the family never knew about. That son is Josuke Higashikata, a high school student who lives in the town with his mother. This makes Josuke Jotaro's uncle, even though Josuke is much younger. It is a funny family puzzle, and the two get to know each other slowly.
Josuke has a Stand, a special power that appears like a ghostly fighter beside him. His Stand is called Crazy Diamond. Instead of only breaking things, it can fix them. It can repair broken objects and heal hurt people, but it cannot heal Josuke himself. Josuke is friendly and kind, but he has one weak spot: he gets very angry if anyone makes fun of his big pompadour hairstyle.
Josuke soon learns that Morioh is full of hidden Stand users. Many of them got their powers from an old bow and arrow that is linked to the Joestar family's enemies. One by one, odd people with odd powers show up. Some are dangerous, and some just want to be left alone. Along the way, Josuke makes close friends. Koichi Hirose is a small, shy student who grows braver with each episode. Okuyasu Nijimura is a big, simple, warm-hearted boy with a scary Stand of his own. Rohan Kishibe is a strange and proud manga artist who has just moved to town, and he often causes as much trouble as he solves.
The show has a slice-of-life feel, which means much of it shows normal daily life. The friends eat at a local Italian restaurant, go to school, and walk around town. Many episodes are small mysteries with a weird Stand at the center. But a darker story slowly grows in the background. Someone in Morioh has been quietly hurting people for years while acting like a normal neighbor. As the season goes on, the friends begin to see that their peaceful town hides something very wrong.
This mix of calm days and creepy danger is what makes this season special. It can be silly and sweet, then tense and scary in the next scene. There is some blood and body horror (scenes where bodies are hurt or changed in disturbing ways), so it is best for older viewers. Many fans call it one of the most charming JoJo stories, because the town itself feels like a real place you could visit.
