Hotaru no Yomeiri: Choitashi

This is a short, light-hearted side video connected to the anime Hotaru no Yomeiri, which is also known in English as Firefly Wedding. According to the listing, it is a mini anime that was released on YouTube. It features the two main characters, Satoko Kirigaya and Shinpei Goto, in a funny and cute style. The themes listed for it include chibi, which means the characters are drawn small and round with big heads, so they look adorable. It is labeled as a comedy and a romance.

The full story behind it is a very different mood. Hotaru no Yomeiri is a historical romance set in the Meiji era of Japan. It is based on a manga by Oreco Tachibana, published by Shogakukan. The manga began in January 2023 on the Ura Sunday site and the MangaONE app. The main story ended in February 2026. The TV anime is made by David Production and directed by Takahiro Kamei. It began on October 9, 2026, in the Noitamina block on Fuji TV, and Crunchyroll streams it.

In the main story, Satoko Kirigaya is the daughter of an earl, which is a type of noble. She has a serious heart condition. One day she is attacked by an assassin named Shinpei Goto. Instead of begging for her life, she offers him a deal: a fake marriage. The two end up on Tennyo Island, a pleasure district where Satoko works as a courtesan, which is a woman who entertains guests. She is trying to find a way to go home. Over time, the pretend bond between her and Shinpei turns into something real. The original story is dark in places, with some violent parts.

A mini anime like this one gives fans a gentler way to enjoy the same pair. Short videos of this kind are often made to promote a series and to let viewers enjoy the characters outside the main plot. I could not find a detailed description of this exact video, so I will not guess what happens in it. What the listing does confirm is the cast of Satoko and Shinpei, the funny chibi style, and the YouTube release.

If you are new to the series, it is better to start with the main anime or the manga. If you already know the characters, this short can be a quick and happy treat.
