About
Death Stranding Isolations is an animated series set in the world of Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding video games. It was announced in November 2025 at a Disney+ event in Hong Kong. Kojima Productions is making it, and Kojima is an executive producer. It is planned for Disney+ in 2027. Press reports name Takayuki Sano as director and Ilya Kuvshinov as the original character designer. E&H Production is reported as the animation studio. Sources disagree a little on some credits, so these are best treated as reported details.
This is not a retelling of the games. It tells a new, original story in the same world, in the way that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners told a new story in the Cyberpunk universe. A separate film, Death Stranding Mosquito, is also in production.
In the games, a disaster called the Death Stranding changed the world. The dead started to cross into the land of the living, and huge blasts left craters in the ground. Survivors lived in small, sealed-off shelters. The series begins in North America just after Sam, the hero of the first game, links the whole continent to a shared network. That event changes how people connect, and it also brings new problems.
The story follows several people who take paths different from Sam's. One is a young girl who lost her mother in the disaster. She has lived alone for a long time and has come to like it. She avoids other people and lets fate move her along. Her life changes when a chance meeting pulls her into a world she does not know. The other characters include an old man with an unusual way of bringing people together, a woman soldier caught in a cycle of war, and an angry boy.
The theme of the series fits the title. It asks what it means to be alone, and whether connecting with others is worth the risk. Fans of the games will notice familiar ideas, while newcomers can follow a fresh tale.
