Attack on Titan Final Season

Attack on Titan: The Final Season is the fourth season of the famous dark fantasy anime. It aired on NHK in Japan from December 7, 2020, to March 29, 2021, with 16 episodes. These are episodes 60 to 75 of the whole show. This season brought a big change behind the scenes. Studio MAPPA took over the animation from Wit Studio, which made the first three seasons. Yuichiro Hayashi became the director, and Hiroshi Seko wrote the plan for the story.

The first episodes may surprise long-time fans. For a while, the main heroes are not on screen at all. Instead, the story moves across the sea to the nation of Marley. Marley is a powerful country with a strong army. It is fighting a hard war against an enemy group called the Mid-East Allied Forces. The story jumps four years forward in time, to after the Warriors failed their mission on Paradis Island. Marley's plan to take back the Founding Titan, a special and very strong Titan power, has been put on hold because of this war.

In Marley, we meet new young characters. Gabi Braun is a bold and proud girl who trains to become a Warrior. Falco Grice is a kind and quiet boy in the same program. Both of them hope to one day receive the power of the Armored Titan. Right now, that power belongs to Reiner Braun, Gabi's older cousin. Reiner is tired and full of guilt from his past. Through these children, viewers see the war from the other side for the first time. People who were enemies in earlier seasons now have faces, families, and reasons of their own.

Of course, the old cast does return. Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, Armin Arlert, and the Survey Corps (the soldiers who explore beyond the walls) have grown up. Their island and the people of Marley have hated each other for a very long time. This old hate is now ready to explode. Eren has changed a lot, and his choices are hard to understand. The question of what he really wants hangs over the whole season.

The main ideas of this season are war, hate, and the cycle of revenge. The show asks hard questions. Who is the real enemy? Can people who were raised to hate each other ever find peace? Can a child be blamed for what adults taught them? The answers are not simple, and the show does not pretend they are. It is often violent and sad, but it is also very thoughtful.

This part tells the first half of the story's ending. It is followed by Part 2 in 2022 and by two TV specials called The Final Chapters in 2023. The English dub started on Adult Swim's Toonami block in the United States in January 2021. For fans of the series, this season is where the story begins to show its full shape, with every side pushed toward one huge conflict.
