Gabi Braun

Gabi Braun grows up in the Liberio internment zone, a walled district where her people, the Eldians, live under Marley's strict control. As the cousin of famed soldier Reiner Braun, Gabi dreams of following his path and becoming a Warrior candidate herself, someone who might inherit one of Marley's powerful Titans and prove that Eldians deserve respect rather than suspicion.

That dream makes Gabi fiercely passionate and more than a little overbearing. She speaks her mind without much filter, often acts as though she is already in charge of her fellow candidates, and threatens to discipline them when they disagree with her, yet she is caring enough underneath that her friends still want to spend time with her anyway. Her boldness turns deadly serious during Marley's attack on Liberio, when she ends up shooting a soldier named Sasha Blouse, a moment that haunts both Gabi and the people around Sasha for a long time afterward.

That act nearly costs Gabi her own life when Sasha's grieving friend, a girl named Kaya who had taken Gabi in and fed her, tries to kill her out of pure grief and anger. Gabi survives, shaken but unwilling to back down from the beliefs she grew up with, and her bond with fellow candidate Falco Grice, who has quietly loved her for years, becomes one of the few steady things she can hold onto as her entire worldview starts to crack under the weight of what she has done.
