About
Assassination Classroom the Movie: Our Time, called Minna no Jikan in Japanese, opened in theaters in Japan on March 20, 2026. It was made for the tenth birthday of the Assassination Classroom TV anime, and it was the third and last of the anniversary projects. Lerche, the studio behind the TV series, made the film. Masaki Kitamura directed it, Makoto Uezu wrote the script, and Aya Higami designed the characters. Mai Fuchigami returns as the voice of Nagisa Shiota, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Karma Akabane, and Aya Suzaki as Kaede Kayano. The theme song is "Teacher" by Sora Tomonari.
The movie is not a brand new adventure. The TV anime ran for two seasons, in 2015 and 2016, but it did not have room for every chapter of Yusei Matsui's manga. This film brings some of those missing chapters to the screen for the first time. The creator also said the movie continues the main story. So fans who watched the show will find scenes they only knew from the comic. New viewers should know that the film makes the most sense after the TV series.
The story takes place in late February. High school entrance exams are over, and the end of the school year is close. The students of Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High have only a short time left with Koro-sensei. He is the yellow, octopus-like teacher who has trained them all year. The government watches the class more closely than ever, and the students think back on everything that happened since he first walked into their room.
The film shares some events from this last stretch. During the winter break, four professional assassins come after Koro-sensei, and he slips away from each of them. He also steps in to save Azusa, a blind woman who runs a small izakaya (a Japanese pub that serves food and drinks), and her daughter Hotaru, who are in debt and in danger. Back at school, the students keep trying to beat their teacher before time runs out. Koro-sensei, in turn, praises how much they have grown.
At its heart, this is a movie about saying goodbye. Koro-sensei gives the class one more job: a graduation album. The album gives hints about the kind of adults the students might become, and it leads into the ending of the series. The movie keeps the mix of jokes, action, and warm feelings that made the show popular. But it leans most on looking back and on what a teacher leaves behind in his students.
After Japan, the film played in theaters in other parts of Asia. It opened in Malaysia and Singapore in April 2026, and the Philippines got a fan screening in May. It later came to streaming services.
