Tadaomi Karasuma

Tadaomi Karasuma is a government agent tied to the Ministry of Defense, assigned to oversee Class 3-E's secret assassination mission and serve as the students' physical education instructor. He is strict and keeps a professional distance from the students, but he is also fair and highly competent, training them seriously in combat skills rather than treating their mission as a joke.

Karasuma is one of the few adults who notices just how talented Nagisa Shiota really is, recognizing abilities that most other teachers overlook entirely. He works alongside a hired assassin, Irina Jelavic, brought in to help teach the students and, more secretly, to seduce and kill their target; the two start out as uneasy colleagues with very different styles.

Even the terrifyingly powerful Koro-sensei regards Karasuma as one of the few people in the cast genuinely capable of being dangerous to him, a rare mark of respect. Over the course of the story, Karasuma's working relationship with Irina slowly turns into real affection, and the two eventually marry. By the series' epilogue, Karasuma rises to a senior position within Japanese intelligence, carrying forward the quiet competence he showed throughout his time with Class 3-E.
