Sound! Euphonium's final movie Part 2 passes 500 million yen, and Kyoto Animation marks it with an animated ReCoda music video
Six weeks after its September 11 opening, the closing film of Kyoto Animation's Sound! Euphonium crossed the 500-million-yen mark in Japan. A final stage greeting with six euphonium players' voice actresses follows on November 29.
The last chapter of Kumiko Oumae's high school band story has cleared 500 million yen at the Japanese box office. The official Sound! Euphonium account announced the milestone on Friday, October 23, about six weeks after Sound! Euphonium: The Final Movie Part 2 reached theaters on September 11. No exact cumulative figure or admissions count was published with it.
To celebrate, Kyoto Animation uploaded an animated music video to its YouTube channel for "ReCoda (The Final Movie Ver.)," the film's take on the theme song performed by TRUE together with the fictional Kitauji High School Concert Band.
Part 2 started from a stronger position than its predecessor. Box-office tracker Beidar estimated its first weekend in roughly 200 theaters at about 138 million yen, good for seventh place and 111% of what Part 1 earned over its own opening weekend in April. Part 1 opened on April 24, 2026, and the two films together rework the story of the TV anime's third season, adding new scenes and new performance sequences.
The franchise is adapted from Ayano Takeda's novels and began as a TV anime in 2015; the final movies follow three television seasons. Part 2 is still playing in Japanese theaters.
Its run has one more event on the calendar. On Sunday, November 29, Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo hosts the film's last stage appearance, held twice: following the 12:10 show and ahead of the 15:55 one. Taking part are Tomoyo Kurosawa, Haruka Tomatsu, Ten Amemiya, Momoka Terasawa, Minako Kotobuki and Konomi Fujimura, who between them voice the band's euphonium players across the years, Kumiko, Mayu, Kanade, Kaho, Asuka and Natsuki. According to the official site, this is the first time that group has shared a stage. Lottery entry through Lawson Ticket opened on October 24 and runs until November 3, with seats priced at 3,000 yen or 4,000 yen for an AKRacing box seat; a live viewing has been promised, with details to follow.
