Dr. Stone isn't finished: Terraforming sequel anime revealed at STONE FES.2026, four months after Science Future's finale
The new project adapts the post-finale epilogue collected in the manga's 27th volume. A teaser played at Yokohama BUNTAI on October 10, and a winter exhibition in Ikebukuro now has dates.
Four months after Dr. Stone: Science Future closed out the TV series, Senku Ishigami is getting another chapter. A new anime titled Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING is in the works, revealed on October 10 at STONE FES.2026, the Yokohama BUNTAI event staged to celebrate the end of the broadcast run.
The crowd saw a teaser on the venue's big screen. Its centerpiece is a freshly recorded line from Senku, his signature "唆るぜ、これは", followed by the TERRAFORMING title card. The official website put up a new logo and the promo the same day, and Yuko Iwasa, the anime's character designer, contributed a celebratory illustration.
What it adapts
Terraforming is less a new arc than a coda. Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi's manga wrapped its run in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2022, and the one-shot that gives the project its name appears in the 27th collected volume, published in 2024. Its events come after the main storyline and, for anime viewers, after the closing episode of Science Future. The manga also earned the 64th Shogakukan Manga Award along the way.
No director, studio or broadcast window has been named. Every previous season came from TMS Entertainment, but the announcement materials do not say who is animating the new installment, or whether the existing voice cast returns.
Seven years of stone and science
The TV adaptation began in July 2019 with a 24-episode first season. Stone Wars followed in January 2021, a one-episode special centered on Ryusui aired in July 2022, and New World was split into two parts in April and October 2023. The final season, Science Future, then arrived in three cours, starting in January 2025, July 2025 and April 2026, and concluded in June.
Words from the creators
Inagaki used the occasion to tell fans that Senku's scientific adventure keeps going, and asked them to stay along for it. Boichi thanked readers and viewers and said they were looking forward to sharing further updates.
Next stop: Ikebukuro
Fans in Tokyo already have a date to circle before any premiere. A Dr. STONE exhibition subtitled Kagaku Oukoku Museum (Kingdom of Science Museum) runs at Sunshine City Exhibition Hall A from December 10, 2026 to January 4, 2027, closed on December 31 and January 1. It will display key art and setting materials from the anime alongside interactive exhibits. Tickets go on sale through e+ at 10:00 JST on October 17, and some date-specified tickets will be allocated by lottery.
