Yu Takasaki is the driving force behind the Nijigasaki idol club, though unlike most of its members, she isn't a performer herself. She works instead as the club's manager and songwriter, drawn into the idol world after watching a performance by the former member Setsuna and later discovering that Setsuna actually attended her own school under a hidden identity.
Her catchphrase, "I'm thrilled," captures her personality well: she's endlessly enthusiastic and has a real talent for pulling other people into her excitement, which is exactly how she convinces her shy childhood friend Ayumu Uehara to become a school idol in the first place. The two of them grew up together as neighbors near Odaiba, and that long friendship gives Yu a protective, encouraging role in Ayumu's life that goes well beyond just club activities.
Even though she stays behind the scenes rather than performing, Yu's fingerprints are all over the club's music, and she works closely with other members on songwriting throughout the series. She also helps Kanata Konoe talk Ayumu through her worries about the two of them growing apart as they chase different futures, showing that her role as "manager" really means being the emotional glue that holds the whole club together.

This is the last of three movies that bring Sunrise's Nijigasaki High School Idol Club anime to a close. The first part opened in Japan in September 2024, and the second followed in November 2025. On January 12, 2026, the makers showed a teaser image for this third film and said it would open in winter. Tomoyuki Kawamura directs, as he did for the first two parts. Nijigasaki is a big high school in Odaiba, Tokyo, where each club member sings as a solo performer instead of as one fixed group. School idols are students who sing and dance on stage for their school. The two earlier films split the members into two groups of six. One group went to Okinawa and the other toured Kansai, each taking part in a nationwide idol contest called the GPX. Not much about this film's plot has been shared yet. The teaser image shows every club member together, with Yu Takasaki, the club's manager and songwriter, looking back over her shoulder. Yu is a key figure in the show. She is Ayumu's friend from childhood, and she supports the idols rather than performing herself. The characters listed for this film include Yu, Ayumu Uehara, Ai Miyashita, Karin Asaka, Kasumi Nakasu, and Setsuna Yuki. The whole voice cast is set to return, including Hinaki Yano as Yu and Aguri Onishi as Ayumu. This film is meant to be the ending of the whole Nijigasaki anime, which began on TV in October 2020. More story details have not been confirmed.
