Clannad: After Story is the second season of the Clannad anime, and many fans call it one of the most emotional anime ever made. Kyoto Animation produced it, and Tatsuya Ishihara directed. Some of the most loved characters in the show are Nagisa's parents, Akio and Sanae Furukawa. They run a small bakery. Akio is loud and silly, and Sanae is warm and gentle, and her homemade bread is famous for being terrible. They treat Tomoya like a son. Their happy home shows Tomoya what a family can be, and it stands in sharp contrast to the cold house he grew up in. The second half of the season is where the series becomes known for its sadness. Real life brings serious trouble, and the story does not look away from it. It asks what a parent owes a child, and how people can forgive each other after years of pain. There is also a short, dreamlike side story about a lonely girl in an empty world made of scrap, which appears between scenes. Its meaning becomes clearer toward the end. Clannad: After Story is gentle, slow, and often funny, but it is best known for making viewers cry. It is not a typical school romance. It is a story about growing up, taking responsibility, and learning to love your family. Critics and fans have praised it for years, and it is still one of the highest-rated drama series on AniList. It should be watched after the first Clannad season, since it builds directly on those characters.
